Sage Ziemba, Concord, MA was awarded the Jane C. McDaid Memorial Scholarship. She graduated from Concord-Carlisle Regional High School where she was active in sports, participating in cross country, outdoor and indoor track and Nordic skiing.

She was Director of publicity for Junior State of America, a political debating club; a member of Interact Club, helping with local and international community service projects; and was chosen for the Harvard Leadership program. She volunteered extensively with Joint International Project to support a clean water project in Malawi and a clinic in Dominican Republic. She has also been involved with Child Quest International, Thoreau Road Race, Gaining Ground and the Red Cross. Last summer she traveled to LaPaz, Bolivia where she volunteered at a children’s orphanage helping with translation, construction projects and fundraising. Sage will attend the University of Colorado at Boulder this fall to study Sociology with the hope of attaining her Master’s degree in sociology and becoming president of a nonprofit organization. She feels her volunteerism will always be an important aspect of her life. Her travel dreams include: seeing the Treasury in Petra, Jordan and visiting the Casa di Giulietta in Verona, Italy.
