Sage Ziemba – University of Colorado

Sage Ziemba, Concord, MA was awarded the Jane C. McDaid Memorial Scholarship. She graduated from Concord-Carlisle Regional High School where she was active in sports, participating in cross country, outdoor and indoor track and Nordic skiing.

Olivia Johnson, Billerica, MA was awarded the Jane C. McDaid Memorial Scholarship. She graduated from Arlington Catholic High School where she was active in sports, participating in spring and winter track and serving as captain of her soccer team.

Personal Story – Jennifer Dodwell

As someone who was born with hemifacial microsomia, I certainly had my fair share of surgeries and doctors appointments growing up. By the time I was fifteen, I had been through thirteen surgeries, or roughly one per summer. As I’m sure almost everyone reading this can relate to, surgeries are never pleasant or fun.

Preparing for the Hospital

Two weeks before the birth of Rob and Eva Higby’s son Brayden, a prenatal ultrasound scan revealed that he had a bilateral cleft lip. The first-time parents began searching for a surgical specialist, and with the help of Eva’s brother and sister-in-law, whose child also had a cleft lip, found Dr.Mulliken and his team at Children’s Hospital Boston. In November, when he was four and a half months old, Brayden had his lip repaired and nose reshaped.

Joseph Levasseur – University of Massachusetts

Joseph Levasseur, Tewksbury, MA – a 2013 Lowell Catholic High School graduate from Tewksbury, Mass., where he was a member of the school’s football and basketball teams as well as their 2013 Eastern Massachusetts Division 4 State champion baseball team.

Kristina Ladd – Rowan University

Kristina Ladd, of Ayer, Mass., is a recent graduate of Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School where she was an active member of her school’s Model United Nations team, winning two accolades for excellence in oral presentation.
